I once reckoned that opening a company just like Lafnac Digital Computers would be great. I mean, merchandising electronics; that’s got to be fantastic, correct? Folks are always hunting to get hold of the most recent gadget. And having a midtown Manhattan spot that’s merely blocks away from world- famous Times Square with its throngs of tourists, prepared to shop around; exactly how could anything be easier? But I’m older and cleverer now, and even if I grossly underreported my income (heh heh) or deceived customers outright it would be hard to break even, much less turn out a unpretentious profit. Exactly why so? Simple: the renting could be ridiculous for such a location!
