Many years ago, there was a big campaign on Twitter marketing tools. It was considered that Twitter was one of the better ways to grow a list and to get people to purchase the products you are promoting. Cutting through the hype, just what kind of results can you anticipate after making use of these Twitter marketing tools? In today’s article, we will talk about Twitter marketing and if it is even worth it for you to use it.
I was one of those who wanted to find out if getting a huge following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion campaigns and so paid for the tools. I ended up purchasing and joining programs that would get me followers and programs that would basically promote my products for me. By the time I was finished, I’d spent money on something like eight programs to do some of the grunt work involved in Twitter marketing.
The first program I bought allowed me to automatically follow people in the hopes that they would then return the favor and follow me. People who were not following me on Twitter would be automatically removed from my follow list by another program I had purchased. Removing non-followers meant I could concentrate on other people who might be swayed to follow me. On top of some other programs that are not really worth noting, I bought a program that would automatically take my blog posts and automatically Tweet them as soon as they were published on my blog. Initially, I was genuinely happy with the end results after using the programs in combination since they truly delivered on what they promised. I was speedily brought down to earth when I looked at my spreadsheet and found that I wasn’t actually pulling in any money! I would post to my blog 10 times each day and those posts would be shown directly on Twitter just like they ought to. Then I found a way to have all the blog entries done for me automatically, believing that the more posts I would have the more people who would see them.
The results of my efforts are as follows: After three years using these tools, I had gained nearly 10,000 Twitter followers. You might think this is an awesome number, but that’s not the complete story: Also in the past three years I have had at least 15,000 of my blog posts that were advertising affiliate products posted to my Twitter account. Other than that, I did no extra promotion for that blog, as a matter of fact I didn’t even ping the new blog entries to determine how good Twitter was could be. Well I found out, in the last 3 years I pulled in 2 affiliate sales for a total of $48, and I pulled in $8.52 with Adsense. And that specific blog only receives about 2 to 4 visitors each day from Twitter.
Despite me using tools to make the job easier and achieving approximately 10,000 followers on Twitter, I still could not turn a decent profit using Twitter marketing for my blog. As a matter of fact, in the last 3 years I have not even made good money from that blog to pay for the Twitter programs that I had invested in. So in my view, while there may be good ways to advertise on Twitter, using the automatic softwares are not the way to go.
